"Meet the IoD Jersey team" (Jersey Evening Post - dated 27 May 2020)

IoD Jersey is supported by a wide network of committee volunteers, who bring their expertise and experience for the benefit of all members.

The significant dedication of all those who work within the sub-committees, as well as the main IoD Jersey committee, are what help to make the organisation such a valuable and professional one, helping benefit both its members and the wider Island community.

Six new committees have been introduced (bringing the total to ten), by IoD Jersey Chair, Lisa Springate since she took on the role twelve months ago. Her aim being to make the organisation more modern, vibrant, diverse and all-inclusive to industry and Islanders.

Corporate Governance Sub-Committee

The Corporate Governance Sub-Committee’s purpose is to maintain and safeguard the standards and values of the IoD. The chair is Susan Clark Chartered FCSI, FMAAT, MIoD and she brings over 30 years of finance industry experience to the role.

Membership Sub-Committee

This Sub-Committee is responsible for explaining the many benefits of becoming a member of IoD Jersey. It is chaired by local Advocate, Julia-Anne Dix and supported by Branch Officer, Zoë Wauton.

Professional Development Sub-Committee

The Professional Development Sub-Committee aims to support the development of senior management from every sector within Jersey, through the promotion of the IoD suite of professional development courses, including the Certificate and Diploma Programme.

Mary Curtis chairs this committee and brings over 30 years of experience in human resources and learning and development to the role.

Students Sub-Committee

The Students Sub-Committee is responsible for promoting the aims and objectives of the IoD for those in full time education and manages the Future Leader’s Scheme. This gives Sixth Form students the opportunity to spend one week ‘shadowing’ a director or senior manager; usually during the holiday breaks. The scheme is sponsored by KPMG. Debbie Reeve is the Chair, bringing her client relationship, recruitment, learning and development experience to the role.

Events Sub-Committee

IoD Jersey’s Events Sub-Committee looks to create informative and interesting events which showcase the very best the Island has to offer and provide members with access to insights from industry leaders. Sam Wilkes is the chair and brings his extensive marketing and communications experience to the role.

Technology Sub-Committee

One of the key roles of the Technology Sub-Committee is to place digital learnings across the IoD Director Competency Framework and to instil best practice in all areas of competency. The Framework, the only framework of its kind for directors, is designed to promote and champion the highest standards of professional competence. David Brown is the Chair and he brings more than 30 years of technical and management experience to the role.

Diversity & Inclusion Sub-Committee

IoD Jersey’s Diversity & Inclusion Sub-Committee aims to equip IoD Jersey members and the wider island leadership community with the knowledge, skills and desire to attract and retain the widest possible pool of human talent. Emiko Caerlewy-Smith is the Chair and she has a PhD in behavioural economics as well as extensive finance industry experience. She is passionate about diversity and inclusion in the workplace and previously founded JBA 2.0, the next generation advisory committee to the Jersey Bankers Association.

Industry Sub-Committee

The Industry Sub-Committee aims to be an inclusive and energetic voice for the championing of industry, for the benefit of the whole community. The committee pools the expertise of its members and, where appropriate, provides relevant data, information and membership opinion to inform debates, policy and decisions relating to Industry. Sam Sturrock is the Chair, and he is an experienced legal and financial services professional.

Environment Sub-Committee

IoD Jersey’s Environment Sub-Committee provides information and guidance to IoD members and their businesses on a broad range of environmental topics. The sub-committee’s aim is to improve understanding amongst business leaders, enhance sustainability and decrease negative environmental impact across the Island, which the Chair, Dilly Wright a local Advocate, is very passionate about.

PR Sub-Committee

The purpose of the Public Relations Sub-Committee is to communicate on industry and IoD events, handle all media liaison, increase awareness of the IoD, share business tool-kits and update the membership, oversee the website and communications and monitor all social media. Award-winning Natasha Egre of Marbral Advisory chairs this key Sub-Committee, which also has Yvonne Corbin and Jo Ferbrache, both of Betley Whitehorne Image (“BWI”). Between them they have over 50 years marketing and PR experience.
