IoD event helps raise almost £850 for local charities

Attendees at the IoD Jersey’s lunch event in December last year helped raise almost £850 for two local charities, Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey and the Jersey Air Cadets.

A collection was held at the lunch on 7th December, which featured Chief Minister Senator Ian Gorst as guest speaker and attracted around 150 attendees, helping to raise a total of £844. The proceeds will be split equally between the two beneficiary charities.

Earlier in the year, attendees at the 2017 IoD Jersey Annual Debate raised around £3,500 to support residents in the British Virgin Islands (BVIs) impacted by Hurricane Irma.

Chris Clark, IoD Jersey Chairman, said: “At our annual members meeting last year, we committed to bolstering the role the IoD plays in the community and in supporting charitable causes. I’m delighted that our members and contacts have been so generous in helping us do that in 2017, raising in excess of £4,000 to support good causes over the year, and I look forward to maintaining that momentum into 2018.”
