A five-strong panel of judges has been announced by the Jersey branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) for the seventh annual Jersey Director of the Year Awards.

The panel will be chaired by Chris Clark, CEO Prosperity 24.7, who is a past winner in the awards and was highly commended in national UK Finals. He will be joined by:

  • Claire Boscq-Scott, CEO, The Busy Queen Bee, a 2014 winner in the Small Organisation category
  • Colin Macleod, CEO, Co-Op, winner of last year’s Large Organisation Director of the Year at both the Jersey and national UK awards

In addition, the deadline for nominations for the awards, which are once again supported by long-term Gold Sponsor Appleby who have been associated with the initiative since its inception, has been extended to Friday 26th February. The Silver Sponsor for the 2016 Awards is Investec Bank (Channel Islands) Limited whilst the media partner is PBS.

The Awards will culminate in a black tie gala dinner on Friday 29th April at the Hotel de France, designed to celebrate the achievements of shortlisted nominees and winners from across the private, public and voluntary sectors. Nominations can be made online now at www.iod.je  and anyone can submit a nomination. The online process simply requires a concise recommendation of up to 250 words to demonstrate the qualities sought in the six different categories, which include:

  • Director of the Year for a Small Organisation (less than 10 employees)
  • Director of the Year for a Medium Organisation (11-100 employees)
  • Director of the Year for a Large Organisation (100+ employees)
  • Young Director of the Year
  • Public/Third Sector Director of the Year
  • Global Director of the Year

Wendy Dorman, IoD Jersey branch Chairman, said: "This year we are focusing heavily throughout our programme of activity on why leadership is important if Jersey is to reach its potential and enjoy a positive future. We are lucky to have some excellent leaders in the island and I would encourage anyone who places value on good leadership to think about nominating someone they know who has made a difference through their ability and hard work.”

Michael Cushing, Jersey Managing Partner, Appleby, added: “Appleby has long recognised the importance of encouraging and supporting strong leadership in our local community and has been heavily involved in supporting these awards in Jersey since the IoD launched its inaugural awards 2010.  I am delighted that we are able to continue our association with such an important initiative, which provides a unique platform to recognise and celebrate excellence across all sectors.”

Colin Macleod, who was recognised for winning the large organisation categories at both the Jersey and UK awards last year, commented: "The IoD Award experience was great, both for myself and my colleagues, who enjoyed basking in the reflected glow for a while. I would encourage those thinking about applying to go for it, the benefits  from both a personal and an organisational point of view really are substantial."

Tickets for the Jersey Director of the Year Gala Dinner on 29th April can now be booked via the IoD Jersey Eventbrite page.
